The latest Milkin Institute’s Best Performing Cities index has lowered Yuma’s rating.
The Yuma Sun reported on Sunday (20) that Yuma went from number 88 in 2011 to number 139 overall for 2012. The index measures job, wage and technology performance. Issues noted as to why the rating was lower includes a heavy dependence in the area on agriculture and military and a high unemployment rate.
It was announced last week that Yuma County’s unemployment rate was above 27%.
