The move out of “old” Yuma Fire Station Number One on West Fourth Street and the move in to “new” Fire Station One on South Third Avenue was completed on Wednesday. The station is now operational.
Some work will continue on the project such as demolition of the old building, parking lot construction and more. An official ceremony and open house is expected in April.
Firefighters commemorated the occasion by cooking a spaghetti dinner. They did have a couple of emergency responses before they could finish, but that made it all that much more “normal”.
The old building is now closed, with demolition to begin shortly.
