Many federal employees in Yuma rallied against the federal government’s budget cuts due to sequestration. The Yuma Sun reports that the rally was held on Wednesday afternoon near the corner of 32nd Street and Avenue-Two-and-a-half-E.
Many in attendance were supported by their children and other family members. The rally was organized by John Lee Simpson, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local Union 2104.
The federal government has made cuts amounting to over $85-million, which went into effect on March 1st. Similar cuts are scheduled each year through 2021.
