City of Yuma Attorney Steven W. Moore has begun his presidency of the leading international organization serving municipal lawyers, becoming the first person from Yuma and only the second from Arizona to serve in that capacity in the organization’s 77-year history.
After serving as president-elect for a year, Moore officially became president of the International Municipal Lawyers Association in September 2012. Moore is an Arizona native who has enjoyed a legal career that spans several decades. He served as the Arizona State Chair for the IMLA from 1993 to 2000 and has remained deeply involved in the organization, most previously serving as treasurer.
He was also a past president of the Yuma County Bar Association and twice was president of the Arizona City Attorneys Association.
Moore’s new position will not affect his status as city attorney for the City of Yuma because IMLA is a professional group.
