Victim Identified In Fatal Hit-And-Run

The Yuma Police Department has identified the victim in Monday’s (21) hit and run accident.  Police say 80-year-old John Lawson of Yuma was killed late Monday (21) night in the 400 block of West 24^th Street.   

Lawson was struck as he was crossing the street by a 2011 Toyota Corolla, driven by 25-year-old Neethu Mattew. 

Police are continuing to look for a witness to the incident, who was driving behind Mattew’s vehicle.  The vehicle was a 1990’s model white or light colored Toyota Previa van. 

Lawson was declared dead at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
