The Yuma Police Department has solved two recent armed robberies in the city. They say three teens, who are supposed gang members, were arrested on Wednesday (30).
17-year-old Abel Ruiz, 16-year-old Anthony Michael Sanchez and 17-year-old Isaac J. Garcia were allegedly involved in the two armed robberies that occurred on January 17th and 29th on West Camino Kino and the El Encanto Apartments.
The trio was arrested after police obtained search warrants at the suspects residents and obtained a handgun used in the incidents. Several other weapons, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also seized. All three are in custody in the Yuma County Adult Detention Center and charged as adults.
Ruiz and Sanchez are charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, theft and assisting a criminal street gang. Garcia is charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, theft and assisting a criminal street gang.
Police say they may also be connected with other recent robberies and investigations are continuing.
