The San Luis Police Department is currently recruiting individuals for the Law Enforcement Explorers Program. The program is designed to give explorers an overview of the daily duties of a law enforcement officer.
The explorers receive training in several different aspects of police work. Some areas of training include collision investigations, traffic stops, drug arrests, search warrants, burglary in progress calls and a variety of other calls. Explorers are given the opportunity to ride-along with police officers to experience what an officer's work day is like.
The next meeting will be held on Monday (28) at 6pm at the police department training room.
To become an explorer, the individual must attend high school and maintain a “C” average in all classes and complete an extensive application and pass a background check, a driving record check and an oral interview.
If you are interested in becoming a Police Explorer, complete an application at the San Luis Police Department.
