The Baltimore Ravens held back a late drive by the San Francisco 49ers to win their second Super Bowl on Sunday (3), 31-to-28.
The Ravens led throughout, being up as much as 21 points. The 49ers were unable to score in the final minute inside the red zone to give retiring player Ray Lewis his second Super Bowl ring.
It was the first championship game the 49ers have lost, winning their prior five appearances in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
