High Speed Chase Begins In California, Ends In Arizona; One Arrested

The California Highway Patrol says one person was arrested after he failed to stop for police. Officials say 59 year old Tonoyan Gagik of Sun Valley was observed traveling east on Interstate-Eight in a commercial vehicle on Thursday night. Police say he was driving on an expired license tag. Police attempted to pull him over, but he refused to stop, traveling in speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in a posted 55 mile per hour zone. After he stopped at the Arizona Port of Entry, he was arrested. He told police he drove into Arizona thinking California authorities would stop their pursuit at the state line. Charges are being filed by Imperial County.
