Three students at an Avondale high school are hospitalized after being burned in a science experiment that went awry.
Tolleson Union School District officials say three teenage girls were attending an after-school science class at La Joya Community High School when the accident occurred Tuesday afternoon. Two of the three are seniors and the other student is a sophomore. Their names have not been released yet. Avondale Fire Department officials say the three were taken to a burn unit for treatment. Authorities say two other people at the school were treated at the scene.
