Gannett To Settle In Disability Discrimination Lawsuit

A federal agency says a media company has agreed to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit involving an Arizona employee for nearly $50,000. 

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims Gannett Company Incorporated and Gannett Media Technologies Incorporated unlawfully fired Robin Parker-Garcia after she returned from a medical leave stemming from her bipolar disorder. 

In settling the lawsuit, the EEOC says Gannett has agreed to pay compensatory damages and back pay.
