After agents apprehended three men in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge near Lukeville, a records check revealed one of the men - Jose Gomez-Dominguez – is an aggravated felon with an extensive criminal history involving possession of cocaine and driving under the influence in Virginia, and child molestation in Georgia. 

Gomez-Dominguez was sentenced to five years in prison and previously deported to Mexico in 2011.  He now faces prosecution by the United States Attorney’s Office.

So far, officials say the fire has burned 3,200 acres and has destroyed five structures and a fence.  Fire information officer Lori Cook explained that the Picacho State Recreation Area will be closed.

The Department of Land Management’s restrictions went into effect on Wednesday in order to help prevent fires. 

The main channel of the Colorado River will remain open.

Abril Gallardo of Living United for Change in Arizona says current immigration laws are tearing families apart.  She says her mom was unable to visit her ailing grandmother in Mexico to say goodbye before the woman died.

The Senate Judiciary Committee passed the immigration bill 13-to-five.  A full Senate vote is expected next month.

Representative Gosar's line of questioning demonstrated a continued pattern of IRS leaks and a long history of inaction by the former IRS Commissioner to investigate.  Gosar asked Shulman how some information may have leaked out.

IRS Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner also attended the hearing and pled the Fifth Amendment and declined to answer any questions.

Deliberations are scheduled to resume today.  The panel started deliberating Arias' sentence Tuesday, after the former waitress addressed them and asked them to spare her life. 

The jurors told Judge Sherry Stephens they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict Wednesday morning after only about two and a half hours of deliberations.  

Stephens instructed them to continue deliberating, identifying areas of agreement and disagreement as they work toward a decision.

The first bill allows people to sue over potential violations of religious freedom.  It now goes to Governor Jan Brewer for approval. 

The second bill allows religious schools to avoid providing unemployment benefits to private school teachers. 

The third bill allows churches to avoid paying property taxes on vacant land.

Witnesses identified a vehicle that was later stopped by police.  Two persons were in the vehicle and two weapons were located.  Police found three spent casings. 

The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Victor Medina, was arrested on charges on being a prohibited possessor.  The driver was interviewed and released.  Police continue investigating the incident.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Tuesday, saying the mislabeled packages were discovered when a customer complained.  

Food safety inspectors and officials at Foster Farms say the problem occurred when labels for another chicken product that does not contain wheat or soy were inadvertently used. 

The chicken breast strips being recalled were produced on April 23^rd and were distributed to retail establishments including Arizona and California.

Wendy Cervantes with the First Focus Campaign for Children says one of the most important provisions would keep families from being torn apart, and give parents who are detained or deported more of a say in what happens to their kids.    

Cervantes says about 5,000 kids are in foster care in the United States because their parents have been detained or deported.  

The proposed Senate bill would make it much harder to terminate parental rights because of a person's immigration status.  

It also provides a pathway to citizenship for 11-million immigrants who are in the United States illegally, including about 360,000 in Arizona.
