Lettuce prices may be on a see-saw battle for the next several weeks, due to the colder than normal temperatures in recent days.
The sub-freezing overnight lows are expected to take a toll on area crops. The amount of lettuce shipped to area grocers were less than average this week. The colder temperatures and less time harvesters can work in the fields has led to a lettuce shortage.
Officials say the shortage will not be long and regular supplies are expected within a couple of weeks.
