Murder Victim Identified

The Yuma Police Department has positively identified the body that was discovered at the First United Methodist Church on West Third Street in Yuma last weekend.  Police say the victim is 58-year-old Roberto Vasquez.  Police have determined that Vasquez was murdered and they are continuing to investigate the case.  A motive has not yet been determined. Yuma’s Hospice Compassus Shares Report The Quality Of its Patient Care

Hospice Compassus in Yuma is the first hospice provider in the United States to publicly share information about the quality of care their patients receive.  Their numbers show that in one three month reporting period, 100% of their patients were pain free within 48 hours of receiving treatment.  Patients also reported they received adequate education about their medication and treatment.  ... New VA Health Clinic Opens In Yuma


Several attended a special ceremony on Thursday (10) to celebrate the opening of the new Community Based Outpatient Clinic, operated by the United States Veteran’s Administration.  The new clinic will provide physical therapy, audiology, homeless programs and telehealth among several other services.  Telehealth will allow patients in Yuma to get treatment by doctors and specialists in Tucson via the internet.  ... Wind Causes Damage To Local Apartment Building


Reports of wind damage are being investigated.  A tree reportedly blew over on an awning at the Camelot Apartments on Thursday (10), tearing down an awning and damaging some vehicles parked underneath it. No injuries were reported. Read More »

A new report by real estate researchers at Arizona State University says the median home price in metro Phoenix during November, 2012 increased by 35% when compared to the same period a year before.  The report by the university's W.P. AZ Gas Prices Down Slightly

Gas prices have slightly dropped over the last week in Arizona.  Motorists are paying $3.04 a gallon according to AAA, a little under a penny per gallon less than last week.  The nationwide average is $3.31 a gallon, an increase of two-cents a gallon. Read More »

Bond Set For Man Accused Of Shooting Phoenix Police Officer


Bond was set Thursday (10) at $1 million for a convicted felon who's accused of shooting and wounding a Phoenix police officer.  28-year-old Brandon McCabe is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, misconduct involving weapons, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.  McCabe allegedly shot Phoenix policeman 36-year-old Peter "Chris" Bennett six times last Sunday night. Yuma Alcatraz Exhibit To Open Saturday
