The Yuma County Board of Supervisors approved a grant totaling $53,000 Tuesday to help the Yuma Community Food Bank in their fight to help hungry children in our area.
The grant was awarded after the board heard from Yuma Community Food Bank Chairman Mike Ivers about the need to help fill backpacks of low income school children.
The Yuma Sun reports that the program feeds about 750 students in just one school alone. The program is able to operate through grants and in kind donations.
