Jodi Arias' attorneys have asked a judge to delay until next year a second penalty phase to allow the convicted murderer time to gather witnesses. In a motion filed this week, her attorneys are seeking a new trial date for January, 2014.
Arias was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of boyfriend Travis Alexander. The same panel failed to reach a unanimous decision on whether to sentence her to life or death.
The judge set a July 18th date for a new jury to be seated to determine Arias' sentence. Her murder conviction will stand.
