The Arizona Department of Transportation’s latest five-year construction plan is up for public comment in Phoenix today.
The proposal contains money only for highways and airports. Serena Unrein of the Arizona PIRG Education Fund says alternatives like rail, transit and bike paths need to be included, because not everybody drives.
Because of limited funding, ADOT says it must focus on preserving the state’s existing highways.
Today’s hearing is at ADOT's Headquarters just south of the state Capitol, starting at 9am.
