We know it gets hot in the desert southwest. Now, the city of Baker, California says that utility bills have forced them to sell a 134-foot tall thermometer that has greeted drivers along Interstate-15 for two decades.
A vacant gift shop and four acres around the landmark are also included in the sale. The electric bills run an average of eight-thousand-dollars a month. Two billboard companies have expressed interest in the signage.
